The story
The estate's known history dates back to the 16th century. At that time, "Val au Grangiers" was an agricultural dependency of the Templars of Ballan. In 1751, Mathieu Bayeux, the King's general inspector and architect, bought and redesigned the estate. In 1758, this engineer presented a vast project for the construction of a bridge over the Loire, work on which began in 1765 and was completed in 1777 (Pont Wilson)
From the castle ...
At the end of the 18th century, Mathieu Bayeux died at Château du Vau at the age of 84. Leaving no descendants, his widow sold the estate to several families, including the Salleyx family, mentioned by Balzac in his correspondence.
My great-grandfather, André Caron, a soldier and industrialist, bought the estate at the end of the 19th century, and since then, 5 generations have succeeded him.

... And that of your guests.
At the end of the 90s, I decided to leave Paris and my beloved studies to take over my grandmother's property and open my first bed & breakfast at the castle. The estate was quickly spotted by the leading tourist guides of the day (Guide Michelin, Guide de Charme, Guide du Routard, Guide Bienvenu au castle).
On the strength of this success, and happy to welcome people from all over the world to admire the French heritage of the Loire Valley, I decided at the end of the 2000s to diversify my accommodation offer and build two cabins perched in the trees of the park: taking advantage of the presence of majestic, century-old trees, the cabins offer an unusual experience in a more intimate relationship with nature and the surrounding environment: do you need to go far to feel elsewhere?

Projects at Château du Vau
Aware of the energy transition and the new challenges of our time through ecological thinking, I plan to open a permaculture vegetable garden on the estate to share my approach to the environment and dietetics.
